Message from Pastor Ron: Absalom Returns...

“Let his heart be changed from that of a man, and let him be given the heart of a beast, till

seven times pass over him” Daniel 4:16

Have you ever waited for someone to come back, hoping they’d changed, only to find they

hadn’t? What was that like. In 2 Samuel 14, the story about Absalom’s return to Jerusalem

after he was exiled for hurting his brother Amnon. Although King David, his father, allowed

him to come back, Absalom didn’t come back ready to make peace. Instead, he felt even

more bitter and started planning ways to weaken his father’s rule.

When Absalom got back, he didn’t show that he was sorry or that he had become

better. He just started causing more trouble. Have you ever seen someone say they’re

different now but their actions don’t match their words? Why do you think it’s

important to show change through actions? Abaslom’s story is a strong warning

about the dangers of holding onto anger and not truly changing.

David was ready to forgive him, giving him a chance to start over, but Absalom chose

to walk a path that led to more problems, affecting everyone around him. This story

makes us think about our own lives. Are there parts of us that need real change, not

just on the outside but on the inside. It also shows how our choices impact others and

highlights the need for real solutions to our problems. How can we make sure that

when we ask for forgiveness or another chance, we are really ready to make positive

changes?

Reflect on how you handle situations when you feel wronged. Do you hold grudges or

try to forgive and move forward? Pray for the strength to be genuine in your

interaction and for the courage to let go of past hurts.

To Our Members of DSCC, God love you, and I love you.....
